The epic resolam snare drum. The brainchild of Rdavidr, built by HHG.
When Dave hit us up to see if we could make a snare drum out of this material, we jumped at the chance. This is a very unique material to build an instrument from. Used widely in the audio industry for its density- it often serves in applications such as high-end speaker and audio cabinets, as well as isolation stands for record players. It consists of hundreds of North American hard maple veneers dyed to various colors, impregnated with an incredibly tough resin, and then all bonded together to make a solid block of material. At HHG, we order this material from our partner who makes it for us, and then we carefully and precisely shape that block into smaller pieces which we then glue into a snare drum shell. The snare drum shell is than machined on a lathe into a perfect cylinder to create one of the world's most interesting sounding and looking snare drums.
It comes standard with our top-notch Hardware, Evans drum heads, and pure sound snare wires.
The bearing edges are an uncompromising exercise and precision. We use a 45-degree inside cut, and a 3/16" radius round over outside cut to make for an edge that is expressive, articulate, powerful, and mate to any drum head perfectly.
The drum is finished inside and out with two coats of high-grade, musical instrument nitrocellulose lacquer to promote the highest level of tone from the shell, as well as a durable and beautiful finish that will last for a lifetime.
