A shallow depth, solid wood bass drum that will knock you socks off!
We had a desire to create a kick drum unlike anything that we saw available on the market. Something that sounded amazing, had a solid wood shell construction, and a single tension-no lug set up. This was what we came up with.
The shell is hand made in our Hollidaysburg Pennsylvania shop using nothing but the highest quality solid timber. These drums can be made in any diameter from 16 through 26, but the depth is always a standard 9.5". We find that this depth, coupled with this type of shell, and the single tension design- creates a sound and a presence unlike anything that we have heard up to this point. It's like somebody took an 808 kick drum and made the acoustic version. That being said however, with a little bit of internal muffling- it will have enough attack and punch to rip your guitar players head off.
Our custom CNC machined bass drum single tension system allows for there to be virtually no holes drilled in the shell. The only holes the get drilled in the bass drum shell are for the kick drum spurs, and the badge. Tuning is accomplished by turning the tension rod on one side, as the tension rod is tightened it draws both heads closer together at exactly the same tension.
The drum in the photos is a 26-inch diameter, made from Pennsylvania white oak.
